Smart and Skilled – Reforming VET in NSW

NSW is reforming its vocational education and training (VET) system. From July 2014Smart and Skilled will introduce:
- an entitlement for entry level training up to and including Certificate III
- targeted support for higher level qualifications
- informed choice with improved quality measures
- recognition of the role and function of TAFE NSW as the public provider
- greater support for regions and equity groups
- better information for consumers.

Hi-Vis workwear created for pregnant women in mining

An Australian first line of workwear developed specifically for pregnant women in mining is already being taken up on site. The line, called Kym by She’s Empowered, provides hi-vis everyday safety workwear and maternity uniforms for the growing number of women in the mining and resources industry.
